Harry Potter exhibition

If you are a Harry Potter fan, I recommend you to take a look into this. Last Saturday, I went to IFEMA, in Madrid, in order to discover more of the Magic World of J.K. Rowling thanks to Harry Potter: The Exhibition. This is an itinerant exhibition of more than 1,400 square meters, where visitors can admire in first person the artifacts used in the Harry Potter films, enjoy the scenarios inspired by the sets of the filmography, and surprise with the incredible manual and artistic work that hide behind the costumes and the original fantastic creatures of the film. You can also discover some of the most popular movie locations, including the common room and the Gryffindor bedroom, classrooms such as Potions or Herbology, and the Forbidden Forest. These scenarios contain hundreds of costumes and creatures that were used during the filming of the iconic movies. Visitors can enter into the Quidditch field and throw a Quaffle ball, extract a Mandrake from the pot in Herbology class, and even walk through Hagrid's cabin and sit in its gigantic chair. I assure you that this is an unforgettable experience if you have ever read or watch anything related to Harry Potter. 

Here you have some pictues of mine inside the exhibition. They show me with the Sorting Hat (I was chosen to go to Ravenclaw, the one I wanted!), extracting a Mandrake, in the main entrance of Gryffindor's main room with the Fat Lady and  with Hogwarts' shield.

The meeting night (La Noche del Encuentro)

Today is the night of the 'Encuentro'! I'm really excited because this is one of the most wonderful nights in Cartagena of the whole year. As you know, we are in Holy week, a festivity whose purpose is to recreate scenes of Jesus' life in a parades called 'Procesiones'. So tonight's parade is specially beautiful, since three different parades meet at a big square in Cartagena in order to sing a Salmo to the Virgin. The coordination must be extremely high, and lots of people participate in the event to make it unforgettable, despite being held each year. I'm not a believer (I think God does not exist), but in any case I always get excited when the parades arrive and everybody is in silence to listen to the Salve. It's an experience I recommend you all!

Here I attach some pictures, so that you can imagine how amasinz this event could be. These pictures weren't taken by me, due to I always arrive a little bit late and I haven't got a good place to record it. There's a huge amount of people who is expecting to watch the Christ!

Travelling...

As I'm studying ITC (Informatic Technologies of Communication) I had to design a trip to Prague and draw a map of any other trip by using a tool offered by google maps (My Maps). So I decided to upload both projects here so that if anyone is interested to travel with me, you just have to contact me. 😏 I shall remind you that at the botton-right of this blog you can find my Twitter account as well as my google+ account. Don't be scared, I do not bite!

First of all you have the Prague trip. It is finished and it contains its budget and the appartment where you could sleep. Everything is thought!

On the other hand, you have here a map drawn with My Maps and you have the information for a trip through Italy. The idea is to land on Rome and take off in Bolonia, and in the meantime visit the most important cities of the country: Rome, Florence, Verona and Venice. You don't have information about the accommodation and prices, but at least you can know where is everything. You can find this map by clicking here.

"And then there were none" by Agatha Christie.

This Monday, I finished for the second time 'And then there were none', a book which was written by Agatha Crhistie. This is a really important book to me, since when I first read it (6 years ago) it supposed to me to start reading other kind of books, instead of Gerónimo Stilton or anyother tale for children. After  'And then there were none' I read 'Harry Potter' and 'The Lord of the Rings', which I loved, so I reeeeaaaally appreciate the contribution that this book made to my reader's life. That's why I digged as much as I could among all my files and finally found this little project I did with some of my classmates after reading this book a couple of years ago, where why explained the plot of the book as well as some other information about Agatha Christie. 'And then there were none' is one of the best books I've read, so please take a look and see if it interests you!

'A different language is a different vision of life'

During the last few years I've learning English, French and German because I need to have the highest level of these languages when I finish my universitary studies. In addition, in the EBAU exam, which will be held in 3 months, (omg I'm pretty nervous) there's an English test, and its mark will be decisive to enter in Medicine. So, as an evidence that I can speak all those languages (apart from Spanish, my mother language), I made the following videos where I'm introducing myself by using  an avatar, and each one is in a different language: Spanish, English, German and French. This way, more people all around the world will be able to understand it, no matter which language they speak:  

Roverway 2018

This weekend I went to Murcia in order to participate in a scout event to prepare ourselves for a bigger scout event: the Roverway. This is a meeting of scouts who are between 16-20 years old no matter their country. It helds every 2 years always in July, and this year it takes place in the Netherlands near of Amsterdam from 23rd July to 2nd August. So this weekend (17-18) the idea was to meet everybody together so we could know who are we travelling with, since from my scout group, for instance, there are only 7 of us, whereas more than 50 scouts in Murcia are participating in the Roverway. Besides, during the camp we will be organised in patrols (in my case platypus), which will be mixed with international patrols, so we are going to sleep and share experiences with, for example, british or weedish scouts!

This year Roverway's slogan is 'Opposites attract' (as it's shown below) because the idea is to join people from different countries all around Europe who are going to be pretty different among themselves. Take into account that Irish scouts will meet Turkish ones, and their respective culture is really different. The event will be organised in 2 parts: the first one is called 'paths' and it lasts the first 4 days of the Roverway. Every patrol is going to do a path or route with international patrols to discover the Netherlands and do some exercise as well as interesting activities. The path is previouly chosen by the patrols, and I'll tell you our favourite one so you can imagine who are more or less these paths. So we have decided to do a path called 'Pride in the south' where we are going to walk through the hills in the south of the Netherlands, play laser tag in the middle of the forest, explore some caverns, visit Maastritch and make rafting in a river. I'm reeeaaally looking forward to finishing the EBAU so I can live all these experiences!

Saint Valentine's day.

Happy St. Valentine's day to everyone who is in love with somebody. As usually, I'm alone, so I have enough time to research about the history of this day as well as some curious facts about it, since I don't have to spend the whole afternoon looking for a present to make my girlfriend happy. As you can see, I'm totally a hater of this day.

So, this holiday has origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, held in mid-February. The festival, which celebrated the coming of spring, included fertility rites and the pairing off of women with men by lottery. At the end of the 5th century, Pope Gelasius I replaced Lupercalia with St. Valentine’s Day. It came to be celebrated as a day of romance from about the 14th century. Formal messages, or valentines, appeared in the 1500s, and by the late 1700s commercially printed cards were being used. Valentines commonly depict Cupid, the Roman god of love, along with hearts. Traditional gifts include candy and flowers, particularly red roses, a symbol of beauty and love.   

Saint Valentine's day is popular in almost every country in the world, and it is celebrated in several ways. In Philippines, for example, it is the most common wedding anniversary, and mass weddings of hundreds of couples at the same time are not uncommon on that date. My investigation project - 2nd part

Yesterday, I made the exposition of my project in class (you know, the project I uploaded a few days ago), so I decided to upload the powerpoint I used during my presentation too. I hope it clarifies you some of the doubts you could have after reading the whole text of my project. I hope you enjoy it!

My investigation project.

From September to October, I 've been researching and writing the project attached below for a special subject called 'Investigation'. It is in Spanish, but I encourage you to translate and read it because it's really interesting and I have worked hard to get the final project you have here:

Anyway, I'll sum up my project to catch your attention: The urea that is extracted from the urine of astronauts in interspace travels is not recycled in any way in the ships. That's why, thinking about a hypothetical human civilization on another planet, the urea could be used in order to originate nitrates that plants would use to accelerate their growth, among other improvements that these compounds provide. Thus, through the advice of two experts in the field of chemistry, three possible reactions have been established for this purpose: a hydrolysis of the urea to generate ammonia that is oxidized to obtain the desired nitrates; the same reaction, but using an enzyme, the urease, which speeds up the first stage of the process; and an acid-base reaction. However, these last two have been discarded since they are unviable in terms of the resources available in a space shift.

My trip to Granadilla

Hellooo! Last October I had the pleasure of travelling to Granadilla, an abandoned village in Extremadura. As we had to do a project there, the teacher that came with us thought that we could play a game called Jugger, as well as spread it among the other students that we met in Granadilla, who came from Huelva and Almería. Jugger is a really interesting sport which is however barely known in Spain. Apart from playing Jugger, we have loads of fun due to tha different activites that were organised. The funniest one was the simulated wedding between me and a classmate, Santa. The idea was to recreate a wedding from the Middle ages, so we all put on a costume and went to the village church to make the marriage official, as it's shown below:



























On the other hand, we helped as far as we could in every task of rehabilitation and maintenance of the village. For instance, we fixed some windows, fed and took care for the animals, helped in the kitchen and became real farmers. We learn a lot about how people used to live in these village 50 years ago, without Internet and some other XXI-century developments. Thanks to Granadilla and all its community for this awesome and unforgettable experience!

Talking about myself and my view of the world

Today I'm quite philosophical, so I'm going to talk a bit about me and my view of the world. I hope you like it and share my ideas :)

My name is Alberto Nogueira. Im a student of 2nd Bachillerato in IES Mediterráneo, in Cartagena. I think I’m an interesting person, since the things I like are quite different to the other’s ones (something that makes me feel really proud, bacause it means I have my own personality, and that it isn’t influenced by anybody). I’m also very extroverted, due to I like making new friends wherever and whenever. Frankly, I consider my friends my second family, that people who’s not going to leave you, no matter what happens between us.

Well, as we’re talking in a philosophical way, let’s discuss this world, our world. From my point of view, there are several good and bad things related to our behaviour with each other in our society, but there’s one thing that annoys me the most: the kids’ attitude. I’ll explain myself. Nowadays parents spoil too much their children, and this way they will never learn to appreciate what they have. When I was in those ages, I didn’t have any mobile phone or electronic devices like the ones that everybody has in these days (or so it seems). And I’m also sure that they don’t know how difficult is to get enough money for bringing up your children.

So this is what really frightens about our future. It’s something that concerns all the citiziens of all the cities along the planet. If we continue in this way, in a few years everybody will be avaricious and selfish, and that’s a really really bad fact in a society, because nobody will help to the ones that need it, and only the richest and most poweful people will survive. In a nearly future (once I’m older than 18) I see myself helping in a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), such as ‘Médicos sin fronteras’, with my Scout group if it’s possible. Although I know it’s extremely difficult, I hope that this situation changes because if this doesn’t... In which world will we live in?

Hi again!

Hi everyone! I have returned to talk about how I am preparing and motivating myself to face the terrible EBAU, as well as to 'disconnect' from text books and relax myself. The EBAU is the exam we have to do in the end of 2nd Bachillerato to get into a university career. Depending on which career you want to study, the mark you have to get will be higher or lower, and it is obteined by calculating the mean of your mark in the different EBAU exams and your notes in Bachillerato. In my case , as I want to become a doctor, I have to get one of the highest marks. I can never relax!!!

Comparing generations

Things have changed a lot during the last 10 years. For instance, when I was 5, almost nobody had a mobile phone with a tactile screen, and nowadays it’s strange if somebody doesn’t have it. So due to this, I’m going to compare my generation, but 10 years ago (above 2005), with the five-year-old generation of 2015:

From my point of view, this is the technological generation and I think that this is the biggest change between these two periods. Besides, as far as I remember, when I was in that age I enjoyed going to the park with my friends, and playing whatever just using our imagination, because any of us had touched an electronic gadget, such as a mobile phone or a videoconsole, before. However, nowadays chlidren are a bit spoilt, so they want to have everything and they cannot have fun easily. In addition, parents let their children do whatever they want, like watching some TV series which aren’t suitable for their ages or playing violent videogames.

On the other hand, if we take into account that these devices I’ve mentioned give everything done to their respectives users, in this way children won’t learn, because it’s not necessary to make a big effort if you want to find out something.

To sum up, I think it’s OK that new technologies help children for different purposes, but we’re losing some of the values we have learnt through the years: friendship, respect and work hard to get what you wish...

ST PATRICK'S DAAAAYYY!!!

Today is St Patrick's Day, an international party in the world.The day is named in honor of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, who has been credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland.Dying your hair or your pet's fur bright green is also a great way to stand out. Be sure to use a non-toxic dye.

Be green and celebrate this amazing party! Although here, in Spain, we don't celebrate properly St Patrick's Day, because there aren't many Irish communities. So I'd like to move to Ireland during this dates for being able to look at how do they celebrate this special day.

Electro music

During this summer I've discovered a new kind of music
that I really like: Electro music, specificly dubstep, since there are a
lot of types of electro music (electro house, drumstep, drum and base,
brostep, etc).

My favourite DJ is Skrillex, who is the most famous
one, but I also like Pegboard Nerds, Knife Party, Tristam, Krewella,
Kill The Noise, etc.

I met Laura when I was three, in our Primary School, `Beethoven´. She was always happy, it didn’t mind if we had twenty maths problems or three difficult exams next day. She was also really intelligent and really kind with everybody. She had a very interesting blog, called `La caja naranja´, in which she tells  us what happened in the hospital and her personal experiences.  She was friend of all of us in the class. She was also good at P.E. , what is something strange in people who is good in class, not outside. It was almost impossible to catch up her when she started running. In general, she was a really good friend who had(more or less) the same likes as me.

She was born in Cartagena, on the 26th August, and she grew up there too. But when she was ten, she fell in a terrible illness and after a year, she came back to school, on Carnival day. I remember she was wearing an indian costume. The next year she came to our high school IES Mediterraneo School with all of us,  Those months were wonderful, but in February  2013, she fell ill again, and this was the definitive one. And although she isn’t with us physically, she is now in the class, having notes about what we have learnt , because she was looking forward to stay in class again. We will never forget you, Laura!!!!
